Joy has been specialising in clinical mental health for more than 15 years. Her clinical experience includes working in community, workplace and psychiatric mental health settings. She also sits on the panel of experts for MSF and NCPG.
Joy specialises in working with children, youths and adults with at-risk behaviours or mental health concerns and supports them through counselling therapy. She is also one of the lead clinicians in charge of developing suicide and crisis management protocols for use in clinical and workplace settings.
Joy holds a special interest in strengthening family relationships and parent-child relationships. Joy has developed therapeutic models of working with children and youths with complex attachment difficulties using mindfulness and parent-child interventions. Joy has also presented her clinical work in both local and overseas conferences, and has also been awarded the Winner of Award for Best Services and Clinical Intervention by the IAYMH.
Since 2014, Joy was also the lead clinical supervisor for the National Online Peer Support Programme, where volunteers were trained to support peers with mental health needs. She was also the principal clinician developing the PSD and HPB Peer Support Programme to empower caring individuals to provide peer support within their communities.
Besides clinical mental health, Joy is passionate about the promotion of workplace mental wellness. She has developed mental health and crisis protocols for agencies/companies that seek to strengthen workplace mental health outreach to staff. Joy has also facilitated a variety of stress management strategies, mindfulness practices into wellness initiatives to build a mentally healthy work environment and encourage support for staff wellbeing.
